Principal's Corner

I began my career as a high school physical science teacher and coach. Over my teaching career, I taught AP chemistry, physics, general chemistry, botany, zoology, environmental science, earth and space science, biology, seventh grade science, eighth grade science and physical science. I served as head baseball coach for six years and an assistant football coach for ten years.  I also spent two years investing my time in educational research, while I worked for Jacksonville State University’s Department of Learning Technology, where I focused on classroom management practices, leadership strategies that generate a collaborative culture, and the implementation of technology in rural schools. During my two-year tenure at Jacksonville State, I also became an educational consultant in the area of classroom management for The Center for Teacher Effectiveness. In addition to my years in the classroom and coaching, I spent one year as the Assistant Principal at Ashville High School. I am excited about serving as the Principal at Steele Elementary and look forward to the years to come.
